Dagi’s Handy-Feet Baseboard Cleaning Hack
I’ve been using my feet as an extra pair of hands for years.
It started when my kids were little. When one child is crying, another needs something, and both of your hands are already occupied, you get creative. Somewhere along the way, I became pretty good at picking things up, moving things around, opening and closing things, and generally getting things done with my feet.
Apparently, the skill never left me.
Now I use it when I clean.
One of my favorite tricks is for baseboards. Instead of repeatedly bending over or getting down on the floor, I take one of those washable microfiber covers made for a flat mop, slip it directly over my bare foot like a sock, and get to work.
Because I’m barefoot, I can actually feel what I’m doing. I can use my toes, the side of my foot, and my ankle to control the pressure and work the microfiber along the baseboard while I stay upright.
For me, it’s comfortable, quick, and most importantly, my back doesn’t have to participate.
This obviously isn’t going to be everybody’s cleaning method. You need decent balance and ankle mobility, and you need to be comfortable using your feet this way. Everyone at Gerhardy Cleaning Services doesn’t have to clean like Dagi.
But Dagi has handy feet.
And if my feet can clean a baseboard while my back minds its own business, I see absolutely no reason to interfere with the division of labor. 😂
